The cadence your hours actually fund

List the channels you plan to run, the hours you actually have each week, and how many people share them. This prices a realistic cadence per channel, adds the reply time everyone forgets, and tells you plainly which channels your hours do not fund. Usually that is most of them.

The plan your hours actually fund

  • Reddit, 1 a week, about 3.0 hours a week.
  • LinkedIn, 3 a week, about 3.0 hours a week.

Cut these

  • SEO and blog. Needs about 6.5 hours a week that you do not have.
  • Newsletter. Needs about 3.5 hours a week that you do not have.

You have picked 4 channels and 6 hours. A realistic cadence across them needs about 16.0 hours a week, so you are short by roughly 10.0 hours. Cut 2 channels, not the cadence.

How this works

What the numbers mean.

  • 01Every channel carries a making cost per piece, a realistic frequency, and a separate reply cost. Reply time is the line most plans omit, and on Reddit, LinkedIn, and X it is roughly as large as the writing.
  • 02Channels are costed in the order you list them and the running total is compared against your capacity. The first channels to exceed capacity are marked unfunded, which is a deliberate way of forcing a priority order.
  • 03Team size reduces usable capacity rather than raising it, by ten to fifteen percent, because shared work needs briefing and review that solo work does not.

Assumptions and limits

  • The hours per piece are our operating estimates from running these channels. Yours will differ, particularly on SEO and video where the range is enormous.
  • This prices making and replying. It does not price strategy, design, tooling, or the meetings about any of it.
  • The frequencies here are what makes a channel work, not the minimum that is technically possible. You can post less. It usually returns nothing.

Questions about this tool

Why does the tool keep telling me to cut channels?
Because most plans are built from a list of channels rather than from a number of hours, and the arithmetic only gets checked after three months of falling behind. Six hours a week is roughly one channel done well plus a second at a trickle. That is not a pessimistic reading, it is the reply time being counted.
Can I just post less often on more channels?
You can, and it is usually the worst available option. Most channels have a floor below which the work compounds into nothing, because neither the audience nor the ranking system sees enough of you to form a habit. One channel at full cadence beats four at a quarter each.
Why is reply time counted separately?
Because it is not optional and it does not scale down. A Reddit post you do not stay with converts worse than no post, and a LinkedIn post with unanswered comments is a worse signal than silence. Publishing is the cheap half of every channel on this list.
Does adding a person double what we can do?
No, and the tool models that. A second person adds hours but also adds briefing, review, and the risk of two people writing in visibly different voices. Real capacity rises by less than the headcount, which is why small teams often outperform bigger ones on distribution.
